About the study:

This study aims to assess pain knowledge, identify the preferred methods of pain education delivery (e.g., booklets, classes, videos) and understand the needs, barriers and facilitators for older adults for receiving pain education. The survey should take between 20 to 40 minutes to complete.

Survey participants who have a history or current chronic pain will be invited to also complete an interview to discuss their experiences with pain education, understand the needs, barriers and facilitators for receiving pain education. Participating in either the survey and or the qualitative interviews is voluntary.

If you live in Canada and are aged 65 years or older, read and understand English and have no cognitive disorder (e.g., Alzheimer’s, dementia) that would limit your ability to complete this survey, you are eligible for this study.

Participating in this survey will help future pain education programs to be developed matching better content for older adults’ knowledge and delivered. For more details about the study please read our Participant Information and Consent Form. If you are interested in participating in the study, please access our Survey to check your eligibility and participate.

This study is funded by the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) and the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Pain Research and Care.
